181/365 - Motoring Along

I had the washing machine apart this evening as it wasn't spinning properly and the internet said it needed new 'brushes'.

The brushes seem fine and once I re-assembled it, it still wasn't spinning, in fact it might be more broken.

We're going to call a man to look at it.

181/365 - Avenue

I'm such the proud Dad at the moment that I could easily post a photo of our new daughter every day. I'm sure there are more to come but for today I thought I'd vary the programme a little.

180/365 - How can I compete

Given the subject of Andy's photo today, yesterday and probably the rest of the week (and who can blame him) I decided there was no way I could top that so here is a photo of a wall.

All joking aside, I actually quite like this photo.

176/365 - Long Grass

The postman kindly delivered a set of 'close-up' lenses and a circular polarizer today. So when I got in from work I went straight out again to the Curragh to play with my new toys.

I still need to play with the polarizer a bit more before I'm happy with the photos but this one was taken with the +2 dioptre close up lens and I kind of like it.

175/365 - Hang in there

This sculpture appeared outside our office the other week after a lot of noise and disuption.

I'm not sure what it's called but I'm 100% certain that there will be many a nightout in Carlow that ends with people hanging off this.

172/365 - In affectionate memory of...

We're waiting for baby B to come any day now. So I thought that if I followed yesterday's wedding cake shot with this one then maybe tomorrow I can make a shot to finish this improntu "Births, marriages and deaths" theme - well it is worth a try :-)

171/365 - Let there be light

So after the lack of success I had yesterday and my general lack of inspiration I got and email (quickly followed by an IM) from Andy.

In it he offered to send me a old flash he no longer uses and offered me some helpful advice. Aren't big brothers great.

One thing he suggested was to try using a desk lamp to light something, so that is what I did. The top photo is without any additional lighting and the bottom one was achieved by simply positioning a desk lamp to illuminate the face. I don't like harsh shadows so I tried few positions before settling on having the lamp pointing at a white writing pad underneath the man made of beans.

170/365 - Like a duck to water

I was short of an idea this evening and Labhaoise suggested I do something with the rubber duck she got free from a hotel once.

Well, this is the result - not what I envisaged at all and not that good either.

Firstly the duck is top heavy so it doesn't float up right. Then it would stay still in the sink. Then I couldn't get the lighting right (really need to get that flash gun).

Any how it was 11:45 so I posted it anyway.

There is no hidden message or meaning behind this photograph, simply I though Ratty looked cute wearing this pencil sharpener.

I made dinner this evening, this is what I left in my wake!

Note: the multi-surface cleaner (spray bottle) was not an ingredient but may have been needed once I was finished.

165/365 - Suit Up!

Spent too much time and money this weekend getting a new suit for a couple of weddings I'm going to this summer.

I personally dislike wearing anything that isn't jeans and a t-shirt, so it was hard spending this kind of money on it.

165/365 - Race for life

Every year K and her aunt and cousin run in the Race for Life in Cambridge. It is a women's 5k run in aid of cancer research. K obviously couldn't take part today but went along to support the rest of the family. This year the event has extra significance as K's uncle is currently undergoing treatment for bowel cancer.

159/365 - Take That Billie Joe Armstrong

Obviously someone was less than impressed with the new Green Day album - I think it's alright, but hey.

I saw this graffiti in Dublin a few weeks back but I didn't have my camera.

It was still there at the weekend so I snapped it.
